PETERBOROUGH, Ontario, October 28, 2004 — Peterborough's second annual Housing Affordability Week is the backdrop for a breakfast meeting to be held tomorrow to discuss ideas to stimulate the development of additional affordable housing in Peterborough.
Participants will include the Honourable Peter Adams, Member of Parliament for Peterborough, and Peterborough Member of Provincial Parliament, Jeff Leal.
"By working cooperatively, we can ensure Canadians can have a safe, affordable place to call home," said Peterborough MP Peter Adams. "This housing week is an excellent opportunity to share ideas and best practices as we look towards future developments in affordable housing for Peterborough City and County."
"The McGuinty government is committed to focus on building affordable housing for victims of domestic violence, persons suffering from mental illness and the working poor," said MPP Leal. "The events organized this week will give us some excellent new ideas for making more effective use of affordable housing dollars to reflect the needs of the local community."
Organized by the Affordable Housing Action Committee (AHAC), the events throughout the week will examine all aspects of housing and housing affordability in Peterborough and Peterborough County.
