Angels in the Night Deliver Truckloads of Supplies to Homeless

$140,000 raised for seven cities, more than 50 shelters

Toronto, December 14, 2004 – Starting today and throughout the evening, hundreds of volunteers from communities across seven Canadian cities will take to the streets to distribute $140,000 in new clothing and supplies to more than 50 homeless shelters and charities as part of the Angels in the Night volunteer program.

"There are people out there in our communities who clearly need our help," says Andrew Moor, president and CEO, Invis. "We're hoping to spread some warmth to those whose holidays may not be so merry. "

For the past several months, Invis, Canada's largest independent mortgage brokerage, and its lending partners have been raising funds in support of its 2004 Angels in the Night program. Money raised is used to purchase blankets, coats, boots, and personal supplies specifically requested by shelters and charities.

The Angels in the Night program was the inspiration of a Vancouver employee who was moved by the plight of the homeless in the city's downtown eastside in 2002. That year the company initiated Angels in the Night, successfully raising $17,000 for the purchase of supplies for homeless shelters in Vancouver. Recognizing a greater need countrywide, last year Invis expanded the grassroots initiative to five cities and raised more than $100,000. This year the program was expanded to Victoria and Halifax.

"It's amazing how the act of giving can snowball," says Moor. "Over the last three years, hundreds of volunteers have come out and lent their personal time and resources, and I'm honoured to be associated with each and every one of them."
