Canada Will Be a Haven for Global Investors: BMO’s Don Coxe Available for G-20 Commentary

TORONTO, Ontario, June 17, 2010 — As the G-20 assembles in Toronto, Canada will soon be recognized by the world as a haven for global investors according to Donald Coxe, Strategy Advisor, BMO Capital Markets.

In his latest Basic Points report entitled June Reflections: Summer’s Storms and Norms, Mr. Coxe analyzes the broader economic impacts of the EU-debt on the global recovery. “As markets are buffeted daily by new numbers, the risk of a double-dip recession, although uncertain, has elevated.”

Mr. Coxe is available for one-on-one interviews to discuss the following:

Fair weather or foul? Prudent investors want to be covered under either outcome.

Canada offers investors solutions, says Mr. Coxe:

1. Fair weather ahead for global stock markets and for the economies of the United States, Europe, China and India:

  • Short-term Canadian government bonds
  • Canadian banks, oil and gas companies (emphasis on oil sands producers)
  • Base metal, coal and potash producers

2. Stock Market plunges across the world, followed by renewed recessions in the United States and Europe, and slowdowns in China and India:

  • Gold miners, valued primarily on the extent of their reserves in the ground in politically-secure parts of the world
  • Outlook for long-term Canadian government bonds

Mr. Coxe can also discuss what is in store for the Canadian dollar and how international investors can benefit from an allocation to Canadian assets in their portfolios.

Media interested in scheduling an interview or receiving a copy of Mr. Coxe’s latest Basic Points report, should call (416) 867-3996 or toll free at 1-866-298-8385.
